The book that started my greatest adventure
The book that got me into reading.
When I was young I was like most kids. I hated reading books. Why? Mostly because I didn't have the patience to sit down and just read. But also because the books that I would read either weren't interesting enough or simply weren't my cup of tea. But oddly enough, I have always felt a certain fondness for libraries, the rows of bookshelves. The journey started one summer break when I was 13-14 years old. I was really attracted to one specific book. And when I picked it up, I did not put it down until I finished it some hours later. And I loved it. For a fact, I loved it so much that I dashed to the library to borrow the second book. And after that the third. And after that the fourth. And a few weeks later, the entire series was finished. All 8 of them. I cried, I loved, I laughed and I hated. All thanks to Sarah J Maas's Throne of Glass.
Throne of Glass follows the story and adventure of Celaena Sardothien. Celaena is an 18-year-old assassin in a corrupt kingdom with a tyrannical ruler. The king of Adarlan. In the beginning, we get to meet Celaena in the salt mines of Endovier where she is kept as a slave to work. Until one day when the son of her enemy arrives to retrieve her. The prince of Adarlan needs a champion for his father's competition, where the winner is crowned champion and gets a special position by the king's side. As the story goes on, Celaena forms unexpected bonds, friendships, love and enemies.
Here is my review and a quick explanation of my rating system:
⭐= Really hated it, only gets a star because there is no 0. will never read it again, it's a miracle that I even finished it. (If I did).
⭐⭐= I did not like it, but there were some parts that I did like though not enough for me to read it again, and if it is on my bookshelf it will get de-hauled.
⭐⭐⭐= I liked it, it was okay, but not good enough for me to read it again
⭐⭐⭐⭐= Oh I really liked this one! Will definitely read it again, and I will buy it to place on my bookshelf if it isn'r alreday on there!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐= Love it! It's perfect. An masterpiece!
My review:
⭐⭐⭐⭐/5
I love this book, and I will definitely reread it. I love the plot and I love the Characters. And I especially like the sassiness between Chaol and Celaena. However, i think that the way Celaena dumped Dporian was really like "dump him but make it thank you next". And You just get the feeling that the author wante dto get rid of their relationship the fastest way possible.
One of my favourit quotes are: "The only thing all the intended disorientation had accomplished was to familiarize her with the building. Idiots"
Thank you for reading!
